De La Salle Jersey supports work with Afghan evacuees

Following a recent revamp of PE kits for De La Salle College Jersey students, the school has donated seven boxes of old sports clothing such as tops, fleeces and jogging bottoms as well as footwear, to colleagues in America.

Mr Livesey, Head of PE for DLS Jersey was keen to ensure that the branded, unwanted sports kits were utilised by the Lasallian community or its connections. With the help of suggestions from colleagues within the vast network, the kits are being rehomed and sent to America.

The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) has eight different processing sites across the United States and have recently taken on a role to assist Afghan evacuees from Kabul. The Jersey sports kits have been gathered from both Primary and Secondary Schools and will be worn by evacuees from all age groups. The USCCB are providing recreational opportunities for youths as well as adults in sporting activities such as cricket, football and volleyball among others.

Mr Livesey stated “We are excited by the important projects happening overseas and I am delighted that we have found a way to support other young people in enjoying the benefits of sport. We wish them many hours of fun”.
