CIL Programme provides valuable insights

The recent CIL (Lasallian International Formation Centre) 2024 Programme which took place in Rome in January, was boosted by a very strong representation from the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta.

Delegates, Br Thomas Walsh, Pat Walsh and Claudia Vella, are in attendance for the three-week programme while, Director of Mission, Joe Gilson, and Co-ordinator of Lasallian Vocations, Heather Ruple, were among the presenters.

The framework and content of the CIL 2024 Programme is based on the Pilgrim's Handbook: Lasallian Formation for Mission.  This publication is the culmination of growing efforts, across the Institute,  to develop a common framework of formation for all Lasallians, both partners and Brothers.

The aim was for participants to immerse themselves in the Institute's latest thinking and resources regarding Lasallian Formation for Mission.

It proved to be a very productive experience and Auxiliary Visitor, Br. Thomas Walsh, reflects on the success of the programme.

It was indeed an honour and a privilege to be involved in the final CIL Lasallian Formation For Mission programme organised in Rome from the January 10th to 31st.

Overall it was an excellent experience with Young Brothers from various parts of the world present and numerous committed Lasallians form 53 countries represented. It was a spiritual and fraternal gatherings of Lasallians, where many topics in relation to Formation were discussed and tremendous suggestions were forwarded to the CIL Formation Secretariat to present to the General Council and for the incoming Formation Secretariat to enhance and develop.

It is envisaged that closer co-operation within Regions will be developed and vast resources already developed within regions to be shared.

Excellent presenters challenged us over the three weeks and we are indebted to the likes of Joe Gilson, Br Joel, Br Chris Patino, Sr Maria Rosaura, Heather Ruple, Br Paco Chiva, and Br Armin Luistro and his General Councillors for their invaluable insights during the CIL programme.

Our sincere thanks also to Br Ray and to Br Luis the out-going co-ordinators of the final CIL programme for their unbelievable support and organisation skills during the programme, Ray and Luis thank you both for everything, it was memorable. I hope the new Formation Secretariat  continue to build on the wonderful foundation that both of you have given the Institute.
