Celebrating Feast of the Immaculate Conception

For two days in a row,  all Form 1 students walked from De La Salle College Malta to the Collegiate Church and Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception in Cospicua.

In the Church decorated for the Feast, an explanation of the legend of Our Lady of Marzabba was made in connection with the history of the Parish of Bormla. Details were given about the rod of the Conception, the establishment of the Collegiate, the titular square, the dogma of the faith, the apparitions in Lourdes, the Coronation of the Immaculate in the titular square and the pilgrimage national in 1944 on foot from Birkirkara to Bormla.

An ancient church with a history intertwined with beautiful events and a less beautiful time including the years of the Second World War when the staff and the titular frame of the Immaculate had to find shelter in the Collegiate Church of Sant' Elena, Birkirkara, the away from enemy attacks. A rich church with priceless works of art that show the faith, love and devotion of the Bormlish people towards the Immaculate Conception throughout time.

There was also a moment of prayer in front of the precious rod of Mary Immaculate.
