Celebrating Faith, Service and Community at St Benild

St. Benild School, Malta, have been enjoying many activities to celebrate Faith, Service and Community during Advent 2022.

Our School Advent Wreath

The Season of Advent kicked off with our school Advent Wreath being blessed by the local Parish Priest. Every week, a candle on our school Advent Wreath has been lit up during a whole school assembly. The meaning of each candle was explained to the pupils, followed by the singing of our school Advent song.

 The Feast of St. Nicholas

Advent is traditionally a time of preparation for Christmas and is an ideal moment to think of others who will not have the sort of Christmas most of us take for granted.

On the Feast of St. Nicholas, our pupils dressed up in their Santa suits or Christmas jumpers, shared their joy and cheer with the elderly by carol singing, playing bingo and giving handmade cards to different homes of the elderly around the island. Every family also provided wrapped up toiletries for the elderly.

This encounter, was very meaningful for all and it gave educators a further opportunity to instil the values of service and community.

Prepare your Hearts! Jesus is Coming!

Throughout Advent, our pupils have been preparing the manager for Baby Jesus by working hard to achieve a ‘good deeds straw’. Such yellow strips of paper, indicating the good deeds performed by the child throughout the school day, are slowly but surely preparing the manger for the coming of Baby Jesus. What a joy it will be when the children look at the manager full of ‘straw’ on their last day of term!

 Christmas Performances

Our youngest pupils were spectacular on stage! All parents and  educators were ever so proud of all our pupil's efforts! The performances were varied: from the Symbols of Christmas, to Angels and the Nativity scene,  to the North Pole has Talent! This was a great opportunity for our pupils to continue building on their self-confidence through another successful experience.
