Building Bright Minds at St Benild

The scholastic year for teachers within La Salle Malta colleges commenced on Monday September 25th.

For the Junior School at Stella Maris College, it was a unique opportunity to work together at our Mellieha Retreat Centre.  The day kicked off with a meaningful prayer led by Ms Claudia Vella on the theme of 'Lasallian DNA: Where is our Focus?'. Using the imagery of a lighthouse, sailing and a journey, educators reflected upon their Lasallian Mission for the upcoming scholastic year.

Following a number of ice-breaking activities, every grade was given a cooking task. This involved sticking to a set budget to purchase the necessary ingredients from any nearby supermarket, as well as presenting a palatable dish for all to enjoy. A chef was invited to judge the different plates and prizes were awarded to the winning grade.

Such a day gave our educators a wonderful opportunity to break the ice and to collaborate together so as to create something good!

A Lego -tastic Start to the Year!

The selected theme for this year's scholastic year at St. Benild School is 'Building Bright Minds, a Block at a Time!'

Dressed as Lego blocks, all educators welcomed our five to seven-year-old pupils with such enthusiasm. Bubbles, balloons and music filled the air! We were honoured by the presence of Bro Austin Gili f.s.c and Bro Mario Zammit f.s.c who helped us out with welcoming our pupils in style. It was so touching to have our Lasallian Brothers distribute Lego stickers to each and every child.

A memorable first day of school - a year during which we will be building a block at a time!
