Advent in Belfast Pastoral Centre

Advent is approaching and we are reminded to prepare for the Light coming into the world by people putting up Christmas trees and lights galore.

In a world dominated by war and global warming we direct our thoughts, trust and faith in God living among us, God who knows our sufferings and worries and who has sent us hope, joy and a longing for peace in our hearts that passes all understanding.

The season of Advent presents us with time to reflect on our lives and relationships with family, friends, the environment and God. What can we do to bring God closer to our hearts? What can we do to spread God’s love throughout our families, friends, the world and into the universe?

Here at the De La Salle Pastoral Centre in Belfast, we have been facilitating half day retreats in schools focusing on the Jesse Tree (our Salvation history), meditation on the nativity story and creating an Advent Giving Calendar where the young people reflect on how they can spread God’s love through daily care for others.

Let’s bring Light into the lives of the people around us this Advent season.
