Significant events to end term at DLS Waterford
The end of term at De La Salle College Waterford witnessed a number of significant events.
There was a fond farewell to Br. Tim who has left the community at the age of 91 years to go to Castletown. Br. Tim worked/lived in the school in his latest posting for the past 58 years, having returned to the College in 1963. He had also been here before then.
Meanwhile, the school organ which has been out of commission for years has been repaired thanks to the generosity of a former student. The expensively refurbished organ was given a blast by Br. Ben at our end of year concert. It was a joy to behold his playing.
Two blue plaques were erected outside our school last month. These are erected in places of historical significance in Waterford. They were erected in honour of the time the college functioned as a teacher training college and in honour of Br. Potamian a renowned scientist who performed the first functional x-ray in Ireland.
