De La Salle Week 2023
Schools, Communities and lay partners will celebrate De La Salle Week with a wide range of activities across the District. More details will be available closer to the time.
One of the highlights of the week is the conclusion of the Lasallian Awards. The process for engaging young people in the Lasallian Awards can begin at any point in the school year. However, the deadline for submitting entries for the Lasallian Awards is Friday 5th May.
Lasallian Awards
The Lasallian Awards initiative was launched in the build-up to Founder’s Day in May 2021.
The excellent idea to engage young people with the Lasallian 5 Core Principles came from St Simon Stock Catholic School in Maidstone as they discovered new and creative ways to encourage their students to become active in both faith and service.
As a District we adopted this idea and, due to the incredible support of our Schools, Colleges and Pastoral Centres, we saw 1565 entries, comprising 230 Gold Awards, 208 Silver Awards and 1127 Bronze Awards. This means that 1565 young people all actively sought ways to bring to life the Lasallian 5 Core Principles and in turn, no doubt will have spread love, kindness and compassion to each community that they are a part of. A beautiful way to see Lasallian lives in action.
This year we invite you to explore the Lasallian Awards once more and this can be done in ways best suited to you, your students and your school context. There are just three things to keep note of:
You can begin anytime, with the deadline for entries being Friday 6th May. You can upload entries via this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15evFc02eiyPpTvP4Ac8WFzjLiccC--RrakwBI_Bk4vE/edit?usp=sharing
You can adapt the template for the Awards if you feel some acts or actions could be nuanced further for your locale or cohort. We’d only ask to replace them with others which still focus on the Core Principle they are related to.
There is no prescribed way of documenting evidence. This is down to your discretion. We will not ask for evidence but would love to see some examples shared so that we can celebrate the efforts of your young people.
This year, all entrants that qualify for a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award will receive a lapel badge to acknowledge their category. In addition, the prizes for each category this year will be an Apple iWatch for Gold, a £100/€100 voucher for Silver and a £50/€50 voucher for Bronze.
Attached to this message you will find a pdf containing some key messages and hopefully all of the information that you need. However, if you do have questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Wishing you luck and best wishes as you begin the Lasallian Awards journey and let us know how you get on.
